Choosing You: The Power of Prioritizing Yourself

Do you choose yourself?

Choosing yourself is a journey that unfolds in every decision you make. Do you take time for your own dreams or step away from what no longer serves you? It can feel like the most powerful and sometimes even the most difficult decision.

Choosing Myself, Again and Again

There were moments when choosing myself felt impossible. When the weight of expectations, the fear of the unknown, and the voices of doubt (both mine and other’s) told me to stay put. They said to follow the safer path, the wider one, the one that they were on. But I couldn’t.

I chose myself when I invested in opportunities that others couldn’t understand. They questioned why I would spend money on growth instead of things. They called it a waste of time. They doubted my decisions, almost certain they wouldn’t work out. They judged when I didn’t know the latest trends or when a social reference fell flat. But I bet on me. Have you?

I chose myself when it made my life harder. Even if choosing me meant I’d be kicked out of the room–excluded, dismissed, or overlooked. Even when it meant leaving behind comfort, facing loneliness, or stepping into the unknown with nothing but belief in myself. I fought for me.

Then, all of a sudden, I wasn’t doing it to prove them wrong–I was doing it to prove me right.

I looked up, and I was in Costa Rica. Standing there with a five-year plan that I can’t wait to see fall apart, because it’ll never happen the way I think it will. It’ll never happen the way you think it will. Just hold on and get ready for your plans to be flipped upside down.

I didn’t end up in another country because it was easy, not because it was the expected thing to do, but because I made it happen. Because I kept choosing myself again and again and again–and I will continue to. Will you?

Maybe you’re reading this at a crossroads. Maybe you feel torn between what others and this life expect of you and the life that is calling your name. This is my advice: if it’s calling, answer.

With everything I am and everything I have, I believe that your dreams wouldn’t be so big if you didn’t have the capacity of turning them into reality. If some part of you deep down knows you are capable, then you owe it to yourself to do it.

Maybe you do choose you, but it just gets lonely sometimes. If that’s you, then connect with me. We can choose ourselves together.

So choose you. Even when it’s hard. Even when you don’t have all the answers. Even when no one else understands. Because your dreams are worth it.

Because you are worth it.
